Trying out ACC

A couple of weekends ago the Playstation Store had a sale on and I grabbed Assetto Corsa Competizione for half price. I’ve been playing AC Ultimate Edition up until now, but I thought it was worth seeing what ACC was like.

It actually has a very different feel to it than Ultimate Edition, but its hard to put into words. I’m definitely not sure if I’ve got the Thrustmaster 300 set up correctly, but I’ll try tweaking it over time and see.

I’m giving career mode a go at the moment, and although I have no idea what I’m doing, I’m having fun. I think I’m slowly getting better at practice laps but when it comes to racing the AI it’s a bit of a melee.

Career mode started off with a Lamborgini at Monza, and after doing some laps in different conditions (dry, wet, night), you get to choose a car and then start doing some events at different tracks which consist of:

  • practice laps
  • qualifier 1
  • qualifier 2
  • race 1
  • race 2

You can adjust the settings, to change the duration of a session, but I left it on ‘short’.

To get an idea of what these sessions are like, you can watch these 2 videos:

My current status:

  • Thrustmaster T300 with T3PA Pedals (potentiometer) attached to a not so solid table in front of a 55inch TV (pic)
  • Manual gears, auto clutch
  • Left foot braking
  • Hands at 9 & 3
  • Trying to figure out trail braking but not there yet

Personal bests by track in the Porsche 911 RSR 2017 Assetto Corsa Ultimate

  • Monza — 1m57s
  • Barcelona — 1m54s
  • Red Bull Ring — 1m33s
